Emails show Fauci made urgent inquiry about gain-of-function research as pandemic began

U.S. infectious disease chief Anthony Fauci made an urgent inquiry about controversial gain-of-function research in February 2020 as the coronavirus was beginning its deadly spread from China across the world, according to official government emails forced into public view this week.

The emails obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by The Washington Post and Buzzfeed News are likely to add new evidence to the growing debate over whether the Wuhan Institute of Virology near the epicenter of the pandemic was engaged in gain-of-function research that made the coronavirus more infectious to human and whether the pandemic started with an accident in the Chinese lab.

The emails obtained by Buzzfeed include one dated Feb. 1, 2020 in which Fauci appears to make an urgent request to his top deputy Hugh Auchincloss, the principal deputy director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases that Fauci has led for decades.  Source: Just the News (Read More)

New York Times Corrects Its Headline Claim That Gaza Dead Were ‘Mostly Civilians’

The New York Times is retreating from its claim, made in a top-of-the-front page six-column headline, that the recent Israel-Gaza war left “More Than 250 Dead, Mostly Civilians.”

correction published by the Times in the June 1 newspaper confesses that the paper can’t substantiate the May 21 headline’s unattributed claim. “A headline with an article on May 21 about the conflict between Israel and Hamas overstated the death toll in the conflict. As the article correctly stated, more than 240 people were killed in Gaza and Israel, not more than 250, according to local officials, and it is not known whether most of those killed were civilians,” the correction says. It offers readers no explanation of how the erroneous claim made its way into the headline.  Source: Algemeiner (Read More)

Washington Post Corrects 15-Month-Old Headline Falsely Calling Wuhan Lab Theory ‘Debunked’

The Washington Post has corrected a controversial story from February 2020 that referred to the lab leak theory of the origin of Covid as “debunked.”

The report covered a Fox News interview in which Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) pointed to a lab studying bat coronaviruses in Wuhan as a potential origin of the disease.

“We don’t know where it originated, and we have to get to the bottom of that,” Cotton told Fox’s Maria Bartiromo. “We also know that just a few miles away from that food market is China’s only biosafety level 4 super laboratory that researches human infectious diseases.”  Source: MediaLite (Read More)

Homeschooling Skyrocketed In 2020, As Much As 700 Percent In Some States

Between May and October 2020, homeschooling more than doubled among U.S. households with school-age children, from 5.4 percent that spring to 11.1 percent that fall, according to new Census Bureau data.

Black and Hispanic Americans were the most likely to switch to homeschooling, while white and Asian Americans were the least likely. This could be due to the fact that African-American children are the most likely to be financially locked into poor-quality school districts, or that black Americans have been the most likely to exhibit COVID caution, or some combination.

All demographics reported large increases in homeschooling between spring and fall 2020, but black Americans increased homeschooling the most, quintupling from 3.3. percent to 16.1 percent. Source: The Federalist (Read More)

Rand Paul ‘Very Worried’ U.S. Funding Being Used For Chinese ‘Frankenstein Super-Virus’ Bioweapons

Speaking with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, Sen. Rand Paul expressed concern that U.S. funding may still be used by the Chinese communist regime to research and develop biological weapons.

“I’m very worried that this stuff still goes on and that the U.S. government’s been funding it,” Paul told Pirro.

The Senator then proceeded to discuss “gain-of-function” research, which involves studying methods to increase a microorganism’s transmissibility or virulence.  Source: Daily Wire (Read More)

Facebook has removed 18 million misleading posts about COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic

As the third wave of COVID-19 continues across the country, staying up-to-date with the right information has never been more important. But depending on where you get the news, sometimes misinformation can be hard to spot.

Since the start of the pandemic, until April 2021, more than 18 million pieces of content from Facebook and Instagram have been removed for violating the platforms’ policies on COVID-19-related misinformation.

The company says it has labeled more than 167 million pieces of COVID-19 content in total, and are making accounts that discourage vaccines more difficult to find as part of its efforts. Source: CTV

Marxist Terrorists Massacre 16 in Peru as Once-Defunct Communist Group Rises Again: Authorities

Sixteen men, women and children were slain in the mountains of Peru on Sunday evening in an attack that authorities are blaming on the Shining Path, a Marxist terror group that was previously believed to have been almost completely defunct.

The attack comes just weeks ahead of a tight runoff election in which the same ideologies behind the country’s decades-long civil war at the end of the 20th Century are facing off at the ballot box.

The massacre — which The New York Times noted was one of the country’s worse in the decades since former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori restored order with less-than-liberal means in the late 1990s — took place in the mountain town of San Miguel del Ene.  Source: Western Journal (Read More)

‘Functionally Abolished’: ICE Averaging ‘One Arrest Every Two Months’ Amid Border Crisis

ICE is melting away in the Biden administration as Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers find themselves handcuffed by new rules designed to limit their activities.

The agency deported fewer than 3,000 illegal immigrants in April, a record low, The Washington Post reported.

Officers are currently averaging one arrest every two months.  Source: Western Journal

Seattle Police expected to lose 300 officers by the end of the month, ‘that’s a third of the agency’

In a heartbreaking and revealing interview on The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, President of the Seattle Police Officer’s Guild Mike Solan said regarding police officers leaving the department, “At the end of this month…we will be close to 300 officers (leaving), that’s a third of the agency.”

Solan told Hoffman that the loss of officers was from last year to date and could range from 288 officers to 300. Solan described the departing officers as “great human beings that do the job. They just want to serve.”

Some of the officers opted for early retirement, while others took law enforcement jobs in other cities or switched to alternate careers. Sources told The Post Millennial that morale on the force is at an all-time low. Last month, a Seattle police officer and trainee were refused service at a local chocolate shop<. The incident revealed a pattern of behavior by employees of the chain at other locations.  Source: Post Millenial (Read more)

Johns Hopkins Prof: Half Of Americans Have Natural Immunity; Dismissing It Is “Biggest Failure Of Medical Leadership”

A professor with the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine has said that there is a general dismissal of the fact that more than half of all Americans have developed natural immunity to the coronavirus and that it constitutes “one of the biggest failures of our current medical leadership.”

Dr. Marty Makary made the comments during a recent interview, noting that “natural immunity works” and it is wrong to vilify those who don’t want the vaccine because they have already recovered from the virus.

Makary criticized “the most slow, reactionary, political CDC in American history” for not clearly communicating the scientific facts about natural immunity compared to the kind of immunity developed through vaccines. Source:ZeroHedge (Read More)
