Researchers at the U.S. Department of Defense have developed a COVID-19 microchip blood detector that inserts into a person’s skin.

Dr. Matt Hepburn, a retired infectious diseases physician in the army, is leading a Pentagon effort titled “Enabling Technologies” to develop treatments for diseases. Hepburn told  CBS’ “60 Minutes” Sunday that his team, operating under The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, was instructed by the government to take “pandemics off the table” with the chip development.  Source: The Federalist

Sir Richard Dearlove said aspects of the virus “point in the direction of it being somewhat tailored” though he warned this may never be proven.

The former “C” of the Secret Intelligence Service – equivalent to “M” in James Bond – also told LBC’s Tom Swarbrick that more information on the coronavirus’ origin will soon come out.

While he admitted “it’s possible” the virus jumped to humans from nature, Sir Richard said: “But the fact that… it’s far more likely, if you’re a scientist, that it was put together.

“All right, put it like this… It’s a natural virus that’s been, as it were, mucked around with and the characteristics of things like the spike protein, which make it so highly infectious, also point in the direction of it being somewhat tailored.” Source: LBC

You wouldn’t know it from recent headlines, but there’s good news about race in the U.S. today. The pessimism peddled on the left by pundits and elected officials is in the service of an ideological agenda, and it’s probably doing more real harm to race relations than any actual racism.

A big part of the problem is that the political press has never come to grips with Donald Trump’s election in 2016. The media didn’t anticipate it, refused to accept it, and have been willfully misinterpreting the reasons for it. Their preferred narrative is that racists, sexists and xenophobes put Mr. Trump in the White House, thus demonstrating that hatred and bigotry in the U.S. are ascendant. But is it true?

First, it’s worth clarifying (yet again) that former supporters of Barack Obama, not white nationalists, were the voters responsible for Mr. Trump’s election. Only occasionally did the establishment media acknowledge this in its reporting. “It’s clear that large numbers of white, working-class voters shifted from the Democrats to Mr. Trump,” reads a New York Times dispatch from 2017. “He flipped millions of white working-class Obama supporters to his side. Hundreds of young transgender people are seeking help to return to their original sex, a woman who is setting up a charity has told Sky News.

The number of young people seeking gender transition is at an all-time high but we hear very little, if anything, about those who may come to regret their decision.

An Oregon ballot initiative proposed for 2022 would effectively criminalize the farming of food animals in the state by classifying their slaughter as aggravated abuse and redefining artificial insemination and castration as sexual assault.

Initiative Petition 13, filed with Oregon elections officials in November, would remove farmer exemptions from existing laws barring animal cruelty and specifically target practices used for “(b)reeding domestic, livestock, and equine animals,” according to the text of the initiative.

The proposed Abuse, Neglect, and Assault Exemption Modification and Improvement Act would delete all references to “good animal husbandry” from state statute and only allow an animal to be injured in cases of a human’s self-defense. A veterinarian’s spaying and neutering of household pets would still be exempt.  Source: Farm Progress

‘Prolific’ offenders help drive 46% surge in SF burglaries

San Francisco police are having trouble keeping up with a roughly 46 percent surge in home and commercial burglaries this year that authorities suspect is being driven in part by chronic offenders.

Officers have cleared less than 12 percent of burglary cases this year as of Sunday compared to about 16 percent at this time last year, with reports of burglaries swelling from 4,715 to 6,895 during the same time frame, according to data released by the San Francisco Police Department.

The department has compiled a list of 30 such offenders, Scott said. Some are believed to be responsible for as many as 30 known burglaries, and may also be connected to larger enterprises and even international fencing operations.

Anew study out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is challenging major COVID-19 mitigation measures of the past year, claiming the widely accepted six-foot “social distancing” rule is more or less meaningless in indoor settings.

The study, authored by MIT chemical engineering Prof. Martin Bazant and applied mathematics Prof. John Bush, “characterize[s] the evolution of the concentration of pathogen-laden droplets in a well-mixed room, and the associated risk of infection to its occupants.”

Indoor gatherings have been one of the most aggressive targets of COVID-19 mitigation measures over the past year. Health officials have warned that people congregating in indoor settings are at significant risk for COVID-19 infection. Even the Washington Post, which peddled the conspiracy theory about Sicknick’s death, was forced to admit the facts on Monday afternoon following a new report:

Capitol Police officer Brian D. Sicknick suffered two strokes and died of natural causes a day after he confronted rioters at the Jan. 6 insurrection, the District’s chief medical examiner has ruled.

The ruling, released Monday, likely will make it difficult for prosecutors to pursue homicide charges in the officer’s death. Two men are accused of assaulting Sicknick by spraying a powerful chemical irritant at him during the siege.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Francisco J. Diaz, the medical examiner, said the autopsy found no evidence the 42-year-old officer suffered an allergic reaction to chemical irritants, which Diaz said would have caused Sicknick’s throat to quickly seize. On Thursday, the Pentagon confirmed the authenticity of recent viral footage showing pyramid-shaped unidentified flying objects (UFOs) that stalked the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Russell off the coast of California in July 2019.

“I can confirm that the referenced photos and videos were taken by Navy personnel,” Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough told Fox News. “The UAPTF [Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force] has included these incidents in their ongoing examinations.”  – Source: American Military News

Although President Joe Biden is a Catholic — a Catholic who rejects nearly all of the fundamental moral teachings of the church — a recent survey shows there is “little evidence” that his faith is resulting in “high approval ratings from his fellow Catholics.” In fact, his highest job approval rating, 67%, is among people who never attend church.

“Biden’s approval rating increases significantly as church attendance decreases, as can be seen in the accompanying table [below], rising from 45% among those who attend services weekly or almost weekly to 67% among those who never attend,” reported Gallup.

In a more specific finding, Gallup found that among white Protestants who attend church weekly/almost weekly, Biden’s job approval is only 26%. Trump’s approval in this category was 73% — for Barack Obama, only 23%.  — Source
