The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) extended the opening of the Gaza corridor in the north by an additional hour to accommodate the thousands of civilians who want to travel south, where the battles between the IDF and Hamas are more intense.

Are you sure you stated this correctly? Why do people want to travel south if the fighting is more intense there?
The fighting is in Gaza City … the Strip is now cut in 2 with Israel closing in on the terrorist hotspots in the Northern part of the Gaza Strip.
