Hello!~ And, may God find you all walking in the spirit and in the shield of protection from the evil one. My husband and I gave our lives to God nearly 40 years ago and we look forward to your devotions every day. My husband has asked me to write you and ask what version of the bible you are using so that he may obtain a copy of that version. We work a lot with young people who don’t have a dad and your version would be great to use with them, (and we love it too)!~
Praise God for you and your family in the Sinai Desert!~
Your Brother & Sister in Christ,
Ezra & Linda
Shalom Ezra and Linda,
I’m not using a standard translation — I’m translating each passage myself each day. I have a problem with many of the omissions in the newer translations, so to fulfill the request by many of the readers to a more modern translation while at the same time keeping the integrity of the Hebrew and the Greek — the only way I could do both without compromising was to translate the text myself. Actually as I’m translating the text — it’s almost like a 2nd devotion the Lord speaks to me through since there’s soo much lost in translation.
God bless,
George
Hello George, I read from a Life Application Bible NIV and also the New King James Version. I do my quiet time with the NIV but I memorize scripture from the KJV. I really enjoy it when you add the Hewbrew language into the morning devotional I’m learning so much, praise Yashua HaMushiach, Mah Oz, it is such a blessing from Jesus. Sometimes I print up the devotional and let the Lord tell me who he wants me to give it too. I wish I could understand and speak Hebrew maybe someday, LOL, May our Lord breath his Spirit into us and His glorius light shine out into the darkness and may the hardened hearts of mankind open the door that Jesus is knocking on and have a 7 course dinner with him eh! Amen!….
Tanach (Hebrew), King James, Diaglot, (Greek) and other English versions for studying.
Blessings in Yeshua!
Like the other two I use King James, NIV and Modern King James I have some others I read and compare. I also wish I could read Hebrew and Greek but I know that some day soon I will be in God’s presents without any worry of language.
Shalom George, I finally settled on “The Scriptures” 1998 version in English some 4 years ago.It is printed by The Institute for Scripture research & is South African edition. It was put together by people from Israel,USA & UK,Australia & S.A. Next to the King James version I think it is wonderful. Also use the Chumash & Tanakh.
Wow. Which Bible? I use different Bibles for different purposes, but my favorite is God’s Word Translation (Green Key Books, Holiday, FL). When I read devotionally, I read it. When I want to do a word study or a serious Bible Study, I prefer a Study Bible such as the Inductive Study Bible. Right now, I have an NIV, but as easy as it is to read, it disturbs me that there are scriptures left out.
Hello, George! Blessings to you! I use the KJV, but have recently started using the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). I enjoy its freshness and appreciate its adherence to the authority of Scripture as God’s Word.
Greetings to you George from Oklahoma. I’ve begun using a rather new study bible – the ESV (English Standard Version). So far I have been favorably impressed by it. … As you well know, there is no one translation that can capture in English the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. Personally, I use a variety of translations: The KJV, NASB, HSCB, NET, CEV as well as referencing the Hebrew and Greek. … My 3+ years of Greek and brief experience with biblical Hebrew is simply inadequate to abandon English translations. Even if one manages to have a thorough understanding of the languages themselves, we must still grapple with striving for an accurate biblical world view, understanding culture, history, various literary types employed, and idioms in vogue over the many periods of biblical history. … A daunting task. Warmest regards
I use the New King James for reading, the King James and Amplified, and Dakes Annotated Reference King James for study. I have worn out one Dakes almost the second one. It has one of the best concordance and notes of any bible I have seen.
I too have a problem with many of the omissions in the newer English translations and that’s why I prefer the NKJV, KJV, MKJV, etc. All these versions are based on the Textus Receptus/Majority Text.
The Authorized King James Bible translated from the HOLY scriptures almost 400 years ago for the English speaking people of the world, is just as clear today as it was then. I could tell story after story of how I Am THAT I Am has punished those who would seek to add to or change HIS Holy WORD…But instead I will simply say this if it ain’t broke why fix it!!! Many hundreds of thousands have come to the LORD through the old KJV…So WHY try and fix it??? Has HIS promises changed isn’t HE the same to day as HE has always been??? Isn’t HE the same as HE was around 9 PM, Sunday Night September 14, 1958 when a frightened 9 year-old boy came to the LORD to have his name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
Shalom,
I am presently using the Complete Jewish Bible, as well as the New Living Translation, as well as the King James Version. I noticed that several years ago, my husband was reading the New English Bible to the family every day, but has since read the NIV, and the NLT. My son reads the Message, which I like, but don’t have a copy. Mostly I use the first two mentioned. I find the CJB very interesting and challenging to read and study, but thoroughly enjoy it!
Blessings and have a great day. I really am blessed with Worthy Brief!

KJV We remain on the old paths; the proven, tried and tested paths that have brought such blessing and revivals in the past. Could our departure from the “old paths” be the reason for no revivals and seasons of spiritual renewals?
I have one KJV dedicated to marking every single scripture that I have compared to an NIV where the diety of Christ is taken from the NIV. I was given the NIV as a gift, but do not use it, but only for that purpose. I don’t even like it in my house, but like I said, it was a gift from someone who meant well. I study from the NKJV but like another mentioned, I memorize from the KJV. What I use the most is my Power Bible, so that I can look up the Hebrew or Greek and translate back to Hebrew so that I get a deeper understanding of what the Holy Spirit is trying to share. Since I was born in the Spirit in 2005, I have gone through three Bibles. I wore one completely out, that I can not carry it anywhere because it has fallen apart, so I keep that one on my desk for reference, The New Living Life Application Study Bible (translation). You are so right about the word getting lost in translation. Studying Hebrew meaning gives the word a fresh breath.
I use the KJV or NKJV because they are from the better, Textus Receptus stream of manuscripts. The modern translations may be easy to read, but confuse verse memorization. I do like and use Gideon Bibles in motel rooms when. Travel. Most translations will hurt you less than you will be hurt by not reading the Bible at all. Blessings on you and yours and your precious ministry.

May the grace of God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ be upon you all. And peace indeed bless your lives. As for me, the original 1611 KJV has been tried through the fire since it’s writing and continues to stand the test of time in my humble opinion. I am trusting that God, in all his wisdom and power, led and inspired the original translators to give us his word in the English language. I feel that God knew what we needed and that he was able to provide it then, and did. I would submit to you all that…the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discern-er of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) Pray that the Holy Ghost will guide and rev elate your spirits with the truth, no matter what version you study.
