Sesame Street adds family with two gay fathers in Pride Month episode
Sesame Street added two gay characters in a recent episode of the children’s entertainment program.
The episode, which aired on HBOMax Thursday, introduced viewers to Nina’s brother Dave, his husband Frank, and their daughter Mia as the characters celebrated “Family Day.”
Alan Muraoka, who co-directed the episode and also plays an eponymous store owner on the show, celebrated the addition of the gay characters on Facebook, writing that he was “honored and humbled” to have directed the “milestone” episode of the program. Source: Washington Examiner

NEW ISRAELI RESEARCH SHOWS THAT LOW VITAMIN D LEVELS PRIOR TO INFECTION WITH COVID-19 IS LINKED TO A MORE SERIOUS CASE OF THE DISEASE
Now, a new study conducted by the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine of Bar-Ilan University (BIU) in Ramat Gan (near Tel Aviv) and its affiliate Galilee Medical Center (GMC) is among the first to show that a pre-infection deficiency of vitamin D is linked with increased COVID-19 severity and higher risk of death.
Previous studies focusing on the association between vitamin D levels and SARS-CoV-2 infection have produced mixed results. Most of those measured vitamin D levels when patients were already sick, which can complicate interpretation of the results. The new Israeli study assessed this correlation using low levels of vitamin D measured before infection and focused on disease severity. Read more: Source
A Group Of Parents Sent Their Kids’ Face Masks to A Lab for Analysis. Here’s What They Found
A group of parents in Gainesville, FL, concerned about potential harms from masks, submitted six face masks to a lab for analysis. The resulting report found that five masks were contaminated with bacteria, parasites, and fungi, including three with dangerous pathogenic and pneumonia-causing bacteria. No viruses were detected on the masks, although the test is capable of detecting viruses.
The analysis detected the following 11 alarmingly dangerous pathogens on the masks:
• Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumonia)
• Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculosis)
• Neisseria meningitidis (meningitis, sepsis)
• Acanthamoeba polyphaga (keratitis and granulomatous amebic encephalitis)
• Acinetobacter baumanni (pneumonia, blood stream infections, meningitis, UTIs— resistant to antibiotics)
• Escherichia coli (food poisoning)
• Borrelia burgdorferi (causes Lyme disease)
• Corynebacterium diphtheriae (diphtheria)
• Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires’ disease)
• Staphylococcus pyogenes serotype M3 (severe infections—high morbidity rates)
• Staphylococcus aureus (meningitis, sepsis)
Half of the masks were contaminated with one or more strains of pneumonia-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with one or more strains of meningitis-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. In addition, less dangerous pathogens were identified, including pathogens that can cause fever, ulcers, acne, yeast infections, strep throat, periodontal disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and more. Canadian Pastor Arrested for 2nd Time for Holding Outdoor Underground Services
Tim Stephens, the pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, was arrested for violating COVID orders in Canada after the congregation gathered for underground worship for the second week in a row.
“He was arrested for hosting an illegal outdoor gathering that did not comply with current restrictions,” police told CBC News. Source
