New York Defies Supreme Court With Unconstitutional Gun Permit Laws

New York’s new gun control law takes effect in two weeks. The law turns New York into a giant “gun-free zone.” But it also requires an in-person interview with law enforcement and the sharing of all social media accounts in order to obtain a gun license.

By requiring that gun license applicants have “good moral character,” New York is still acting in defiance of June’s Supreme Court decision, New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, Inc. v. Brue. In a new court filing last week, New York Attorney General Letitia James claims that without these requirements, there would be an “entirely predictable chaos.” Democrats and gun control proponents have voiced similar fears in the other six states affected by the Supreme Court’s decision.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s opinion in Bruen stressed the importance of “objective” standards for gun permits, ones that don’t require “the exercise of judgment, and the formation of opinion.” He also noted that “there is no historical basis for New York to effectively declare the island of Manhattan a ‘sensitive place’ simply because it is crowded and protected generally by the New York City Police Department.” New York’s default position is that all private property is off-limits to lawful concealed carry unless the property owner notes “by clear and conspicuous signage” that guns are welcome. Biden Weaponizing Justice Department to Force States Into Abortion Compliance

The Biden Justice Department announced Tuesday it is suing the state of Idaho over its new law banning most abortions.

The suit promises to be the first in a series of actions the DOJ will take to try to limit the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision in June that overturned the 1973 case Roe v. Wade.

In Roe, justices had created a national right to obtain an abortion.

The Idaho law bans all abortions except in the cases of rape or incest that are reported to law enforcement or when a physician determines “in his good-faith medical judgment and based on the facts known to the physician at the time, that the abortion was necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman.” Source: Western Journal

“We will be out by the thousands, we will be out by the millions,” Rep. Maxine Waters stated outside the Supreme Court building as the announcement of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The question that should be asked is, “Is this an insurrectionist act?”

VP Harris Says Supreme Court’s 2nd Amendment Decision Defies the Constitution

Vice President Kamala Harris disagreed with the Supreme Court’s decision that struck down a New York law requiring people to show a need for carrying a gun to get a license to have one in public. The justices said the requirement violates the Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.” However, Harris commenting on the decision stated, it “defies common sense and the Constitution.”

“And so — I mean that sincerely. I often get asked — look, the Republicans don’t play it square, why do you play it square? Well, guess what, if we do the same thing they do, our democracy will literally be in jeopardy. Not a joke,” President Joe Biden said.

Kimmel asked Biden, “how do you ever make any progress if they’re not following the rules?”

“You’ve got to send them to jail,” the “no-joke” Biden said.

“I don’t think the country will stand for it,” Biden said of a possible Roe defeat in the Supreme Court on Kimmel. “If in fact the decision comes down the way it does, and these states impose the limitations they’re talking about, it’s going to cause a mini-revolution and they’re going to vote these folks out of office.”

‘You Will Pay the Price’ — ‘Won’t Know What Hit You’

During a speech about the abortion case before the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated to Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, “you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you, if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Schumer said, “Now, we stand here today because behind me, inside the walls of this court, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments, as you know, for the first major abortion rights cases since [Justice] Kavanaugh and [Justice] Gorsuch came to the bench. We know what’s at stake. Over the last three years, women’s reproductive rights have come under attack in a way we haven’t seen in modern history. From Louisiana, to Missouri, to Texas, Republican legislatures are waging a war on women, all women, and they’re taking away fundamental rights. I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you, if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

House Democrats Block Bill to Protect Supreme Court Justices

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made a unanimous consent request on the House floor to bring up S. 4160 for a vote. S. 4160, which passed the Senate by a unanimous vote, would have allocated additional security for the justices’ family members. Despite McCarthy’s request, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats failed to comply with McCarthy’s proposal to bring the bill to vote.
